Notice and Call of Special Election
To the qualified electors of Riverside Elementary School District No. 2 of Maricopa County, Arizona:
A special election will be held in Riverside Elementary School District No. 2 of Maricopa County, Arizona (the “district”), on November 5, 2024. The purpose of the election is to permit the qualified electors of the district to vote on authorizing the district to adopt a general maintenance and operation budget that includes an amount of up to 15% in excess of the district’s revenue control limit for the fiscal year 2025–2026 and for six subsequent years (subject to certain reductions provided by statute in years six and seven).
The district’s current 15% budget override is by law required to be reduced by one-third in fiscal years 2026–2027 and 2027–2028. Because the existing override does not begin reducing until fiscal year 2026–2027, the proposed 15% override budget will equal the 2025–2026 alternate budget. The full budget override amount is estimated to be $1,100,000 and would be funded by an estimated tax rate of $0.2149 per one hundred dollars of net assessed valuation for secondary property tax purposes, which is approximately equal to the current tax rate levied for the existing override. In future years the amount of the increase will be as provided by law.

The polls will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
The last day to register to vote in order to be eligible to vote in this election is on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Se llevará a cabo una elección especial en el Distrito Escolar Primario Núm. 2 de Riverside del Condado de Maricopa, Arizona (el “distrito”), el 5 de noviembre de 2024. El propósito de la elección es permitir que los electores calificados del Distrito voten sobre una autorización al distrito para adoptar un presupuesto general de mantenimiento y operaciones que incluye una cantidad de hasta el 15% superior al límite de control de ingresos del distrito para el año fiscal 2025–2026 y para seis años fiscales subsiguientes (sujeto a ciertas reducciones provistas por el estatuto en los años seis y siete).

Request for Arguments For or Against the Special Budget Override Election for Riverside Elementary School District No. 2
Riverside Elementary School District No. 2 of Maricopa County, Arizona (the “district”), will hold a special 15% maintenance and operation budget override election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The total 15% budget override amount for the first year of the proposed continuation is estimated to be $1,100,000 and would be funded in that year by an estimated $0.2149 tax rate per $100 of net assessed valuation used for secondary property tax purposes which is approximately equal to the current secondary tax rate for the existing budget override. The Maricopa County school superintendent will be preparing an informational pamphlet that will be mailed to households containing one or more registered electors within the district. Any persons wishing to submit an argument “for” or “against” the proposed 15% budget override (not to exceed 200 words) may do so by mail or hand delivery of the argument to the Maricopa County School Superintendent, School Elections Office 4041 N. Central Avenue, Suite 1200, Phoenix, AZ 85012; telephone: (602) 506-3866.
To be included in the informational pamphlet, such argument must be received in the office of the Maricopa County school superintendent on or before 5:00 p.m., August 9, 2024. Such argument must be signed and include the name of the district, the author’s name, the name of any entity submitting an argument, address and telephone number. If the argument is submitted by a political committee, it shall contain the sworn statement of the committee's chairperson or treasurer. If the argument is submitted by an individual and not on behalf of an organization, a political committee, or any other group, the person shall submit the argument with a sworn, notarized statement. The entity and author’s name will be printed in the informational pamphlet. To find fillable forms for submitting an argument, visit the Maricopa County School Superintendent’s website.
